The method for removing the engine valve tappet is as follows

 

1. Remove the valve cover;

 

2. Remove the camshaft bearing cover and lift off the camshaft;

 

3. Take out the tappets through the holes in the cylinder head and mark them. The tappets are not interchangeable,

 

In addition, after removing the valve tappets, it is also necessary to check the use of mechanical rigid tappets in the car engine valve distribution mechanism. During maintenance, the wear of the tappet gasket and tappet groove should be checked first. If the wear is severe, the valve tappet cannot rotate flexibly during movement, which will increase the lateral force of the cam to lift the tappet, causing the tappet to swing left and right during movement, affecting its normal operation; Also check the valve tappet fitting room, with a normal clearance of 0.12mm; The experience check method is to lift the tappet and shake it slightly. If there is a noticeable feeling of friction, it indicates that the tappet and hole are severely worn and should be replaced or repaired:

 

If there is severe wear or grooves, they need to be replaced. For hydraulic tappets, the sealing of these precision components should be checked. Firstly, immerse the hydraulic tappet in washing oil, push and pull the plunger several times, wash it, and then reinstall it. Place the exhausted tappet on the test bench, apply a force of 200N to the plunger, make it slide down about 2mm, and measure its 1mm sliding time. If the measured value is lower than the standard value, the hydraulic tappet should be replaced.

 

Reminder: The valve train of ordinary sedan engines has been changed to hydraulic tappets. This type of hydraulic tappet does not have an adjustable gasket, and during maintenance, the first step is to check the grinding condition at the top of the tappet.
