Characteristics of camshaft vehicles and how to maintain them

 

The cam bearing is a component in a piston engine. Its function is to control the opening and closing actions of the valve. Although the rotational speed of the camshaft in a four-stroke engine is half that of the crankshaft (in a two-stroke engine, the rotational speed of the camshaft is the same as that of the crankshaft), usually its rotational speed is still very high, and it needs to withstand a large amount of torque. Therefore, in design, the requirements for the strength and support of the camshaft are very high. Its material is generally special cast iron, and occasionally forgings are used. Because the law of valve motion is related to the power and operating characteristics of an engine, camshaft design plays a very important role in the design process of the engine.

1Structure of cam bearings

1. Combined structure of thick outer ring needle roller bearing and bolt

2How to maintain cam bearings

 

(1) Check the curvature of the camshaft. With the journal at both ends as the fulcrum, the radial runout should not be greater than 0.03 mm, and if it exceeds 0.10 mm, it can be corrected using the cold pressure correction method.

(2) When the lift of the cam is not less than 5% of the specified value, it is allowed not to grind the cam, but the cam base circle and the radial circular runout tolerance of the cam base circle to the camshaft axis should be checked; The overhaul standard is

0.03mm, overhaul is allowed to be no greater than O.05mm.

(3) The cam surface should be polished if it is rough, damaged, or pitted. When the wear of the cam tip exceeds 1.00 mm, the cam tip should be repaired after surfacing welding to restore its original size and shape,

or replace it.

(4) If the gear surface of the oil pump drive gear on the camshaft is rough or worn by more than 0.50 mm, it should be repaired. Individual teeth of the gear are damaged, and it is allowe

 

Continue to use after grinding off sharp corners. The surface roughness of the eccentric wheel of the driving fuel transfer pump must not exceed O.80 μ mWhen the wear of the eccentric wheel exceeds 2.00 mm, the camshaft should be repaired or replaced by surfacing welding.

(5) Cylindricity tolerance of each camshaft journal: overhaul standard is 5 μ m. Overhaul allowance is not greater than 15 μ m. The usage limit is 25 μ m

(6) The radial circular run-out tolerance of the shaft journal and the end face circular run-out error of the axial thrust end face of the camshaft timing gear shall not be greater than 35 μ m
